The Living World
The living world observed, decorated, domesticated, and imagined.
Birds carry omens. Flowers carry time. Horses carry power. Even a botanical study arrives with a human purpose attached: knowledge, beauty, possession, or the desire to keep a season from ending.
This room is less about nature untouched than about the many ways artists have translated other lives into human signs. The best works allow the creature or plant to exceed the role assigned to it.
